Five open houses across Williamson, Jackson, Franklin and Union counties this weekend — and they run from $150,000 to $950,000. That is the widest spread we have had in this series.
Last week there were three, and all three were in Williamson County. This week Jackson County has three of the five, Williamson has one, Union has one, and Franklin has none.
Saturday, September 26
📍 713 N 26th St, Herrin — 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

This one was open last weekend too, and it is back for a second Saturday. It is also the smallest house on this list by a wide margin and, at about $170 per square foot, the most expensive per foot — which is what happens when you divide a whole-house price by a small number.

Five bedrooms for $215,000, on close to an acre. The longest window of the weekend at three hours, which is worth knowing if your Saturday is already spoken for.

The newest structure of the five and the second largest. At roughly $94 per square foot it is the cheapest per foot on the board.
Saturday actually works as a route. Herrin at 10:00, then Makanda at 1:00, is a real morning — roughly 25 miles apart. De Soto overlaps the Herrin window but stays open until 1:00, so you could take it second and still make Makanda if you move.

The largest house of the weekend, and at about $90 per square foot a close rival to Makanda for the best per-foot number here.

The top of the weekend by a distance, and the listing itself says “please join us this Sunday from 2–4pm.” Three bedrooms at $950,000 tells you plainly that the price is not about the bedroom count — it is about seventeen acres in Union County.
Sunday does not route as cleanly. Carbondale and Anna overlap by an hour and sit about 35 miles apart. Pick one, or call us and we will get you into the other on your own time.
Why Franklin County Has None
It simply has none scheduled. That is worth stating plainly rather than padding the list, because the county open-house searches are heavily padded already — and that is the part most people never see.
🔍 What We Filtered Out
The Union County search returned 15 results. Ten of them were in Missouri — Cape Girardeau and Jackson, MO. The Jackson County, Illinois search returned listings in Chester and Sparta, which are Randolph County, plus a house in Jackson, Missouri.
Every address above was checked for state and county before it went on this list. A house in Cape Girardeau is a fine house. It is not an open house in Southern Illinois.
We also left out 8193 Old Highway 13 in Murphysboro, which shows an open house on October 3 — next weekend, not this one. It should appear here in seven days.
